PRK (Photo-Refractive Keratectomy)

I would like to thank Dr. Sheth and the entire staff at Sheth Horsley Eye Center for my new eyes. I waited a year to write this letter because I thought it was too good to be true. I kept thinking I would wake and have blurry vision, but my vision is perfect day and night every single time I open my eyes.

I flew to Boston from South Carolina for PRK vision correction surgery with Dr. Sheth. The PRK surgery took less than 2 min and it was painless. I could see better right away and after a month I could see perfect.

The staff is positive, knowledgeable and attentive. The pre-operation instruction and post operation checkups made me feel well taken care of.

Thank you,

- Mark D.

I got my first pair of glasses in 1995. I got contacts in 1998.

I have wanted to get corrective surgery since 2002. I don't mind the look of glasses, but the fact that I have to continually push my glasses up is a bit annoying. I am an athlete, and sweat on the glasses and also getting the glasses hit off my face is annoying. Contacts... they fix all of the problems I mentioned above. But having to take them in and out every morning and night, taking cases and solution on any trip is annoying.

Needless to say, I was very excited to get corrective surgery. All the money you spend on contacts over the years is way more than the corrective surgery now.

I chose for PRK (photo refractive keratectomy) vs. LASIK because I did not want to deal with the flap on my cornea. It is a longer recover time, and I was ok with that for long term benefits.

I went from contacts at -2.5 (glasses 20/400 i think), to almost perfect as soon as I was done the very quick procedure. The procedure took maybe 4 minutes, and painless.

I am currently 1 month post-surgery, I have 20/20 officially, and I made out the 20/15 line with some fuzziness. I had no pain throughout recovery, although my eyes felt like they were lightly scratched. My eyes were sensitive to light for about a week, but that's not so bad... wear sunglasses or close your eyes.

The staff, including Dr. Sheth were all very professional, helpful, compassionate, and friendly. I did not feel rushed at all in any of my appointments. I work in the medical field, so I have seen both sides of the "hospital setting". Sheth-Horsley Eye Center was a great example of great medical care.

The national average for having to get "touch ups" to make vision perfect after initial corrective surgery is 10%. I think that is pretty good. Dr Sheth has a 2% rate of returns. I think that is DAMN good!

Overall:
great experience
worth every penny
easy procedure
I CAN SEE PERFECT NOW!!!

I would definitely suggest Sheth-Horsley Eye Center

if you would like details on the procedure or any other information, please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers

I had monovision PRK surgery on my eyes back in August 2012 through the Sheth-Horsley Eye center in Stoneham, MA. After a thorough look into Dr. Sheth's practice and reputation, I decided that I would have my surgery there. I had been thinking about the surgery for many years since I have been wearing glasses for over 30 years and was tired of them and the fact that my near vision for reading had deteriorated significantly over the past several years and the prospects of bi focals didn’t appeal to me. I decided to do the monovision to avoid having to get reading glasses for the foreseeable future. The entire office staff is very friendly and the process of pre and post op was easy. The procedure was so fast and painless that by the time I was settled into the chair for the operation, it was already over and I was in the recovery room.

I would say 3 months after the procedure that my eye sight is great. It took some time for my brain to adjust and compensate between the two eyes being tuned for near and far separately. This procedure has been a life changing event for me. I can wear normal sunglasses now. I wake up each morning and every thing is clear and no longer fuzzy. The procedure has been so wonderful that my wife has seen the results and is now signed up for the surgery in a few months with Dr. Sheth.

I would highly recommend his office and staff for anyone considering LASIK or PRK surgery.

I wore my contacts everyday. Needed them for work, driving, sports, etc... Recently had a baby and so was getting up at all hours of the night. I had been toying around with the idea of LASIK for years. Finally decided to get the procedure. Turns out I was not a good candidate for LASIK (corneal tissue too thin for incision). Turns out I had an alternative...PRK. Dr. Sheth filled me in on PRK and I did some research. From what I read and what Dr. Sheth told me the procedure would should still produce the same desired results as LASIK. The recovery for PRK is longer than LASIK, but I proceeded with the PRK regardless. The procedure was faster than I expected. Amazing to be honest. Recovery took a few days (irritation and discomfort - which I expected based on consultations from Dr. Sheth. No surprise). Well I will tell you the 3-5 days of itchy eyes was worth it. 4 months later I have 20/15 vision. I do not have to worry about taking contacts out at night or putting them in when I get up in the middle of the night with the baby. No more worries of the contacts popping out during sports. I can get up a go every morning if needed. Someone told me it was worth it and now I see why. PRK (or LASIK) is a game changer.

Below is a testimonial I would like to share with future Dr. Sheth patients, now having been 6 month's out of PRK surgery and with perfect 20/20 vision!

"Being a contact lens wearer for 15+ years I was always skeptical about getting LASIK surgery to correct my vision. Hearing many success stories, I decided to finally take the risk. I spent many hours researching where I was going to have my procedure done and finally came across Dr. Sheth at the Sheth-Horsley Eye Center and his hardworking staff. Going into this life altering decision I thought that it would be as easy as walking in and walking out with perfect vision. Unfortunately, I was not a candidate for regular LASIK surgery, but was a candidate for a different procedure called PRK. The healing time is longer for this procedure but Dr.Sheth and his staff were very accommodating about answering my many questions and helping me weigh out my options. I opted to do the PRK surgery and couldn't be happier with the results!"

"It has been 6 months since my surgery and I couldn't be more pleased with the results! The first morning you wake up and are able to perfectly see the time on your alarm clock or television cable box, you'll know eye correction surgery was worth it! You will no longer have to deal with the maintenance, hassle, or costs of contacts or glasses. Dr. Sheth and his staff are a trusting and knowledgeable medical team who put my anxieties at ease about having vision correction surgery. I highly recommend that you choose to have your corrective eye surgery at Sheth-Horsley Eye Center, you won't regret it!"

Thanks,

Sean S.

I had PRK done by Sheth Horsley eye center in early 2012 to correct my 20/40 vision. I'm now 20/15 without issues and I highly recommend Sheth Horsley if you're considering LASIK or PRK.
