Laser Center Now Open in Stoneham

The North Shore Cataract and Laser Center has now opened in Stoneham. It is a Medicare-certified, state-of-the-art ophthalmic surgical center dedicated to caring for and treating diseases of the eye.

The new facility is a collaborative effort of 12 area ophthalmologists. The nurse-manager for the new center is long-time Stoneham resident Donna DiPersio, a registered nurse with extensive experience in ophthalmic surgery.

According to Dr. Will Horsley, a surgical center environment offers the advantage of a setting that is more comfortable and relaxed. It also allows doctors to offer excellent quality care that is efficient and economical.

In years past, most surgical procedures were performed in a hospital. With advanced technology and improved anesthetic techniques, many surgeries, including most ophthalmic procedures, can now be performed safely and effectively on an outpatient basis.

All procedures at the North Shore Cataract and Laser Center will be scheduled through participating doctors' offices, but patients are welcome to call or visit the surgery center. It is located at 91 Montvale in Stoneham, just off Interstate 93. A covered pickup and delivery area is available, and patients who cannot arrange their own transportation will be assisted by the center.
